My Story

Why did I decide to be a UX designer?

Throughout my journey, I've navigated the uncertainty of my future, much like everyone else. By the end of my four-year undergrad, I became particularly interested in game design, thinking it would be my career endpoint.

The COVID-19 pandemic marked a significant turning point. Sharing my game demo with my mom to uplift her spirits led to an unexpected revelation. But the game was too difficult to enjoy it, even made her question herself: "Am I just not clever enough, left behind by the times, only able to play games like Candy Crush?"

I began to question myself. My original intent in creating games was to spread happiness to everyone, but now, it seemed even my own mom couldn't access that joy. That's when I discovered the path to making happiness accessible to all: User Experience Design.

How I become a UX designer?

My journey took a new direction during graduate studies at the University of Texas, where I specialized in UX design. I realized UX design is the vital bridge connecting users with technology.

Interning at Sleeper exposed me to UX challenges in business, emphasizing the practical aspect of design. It taught me that design isn't just aesthetics; it's about creating experiences that align with both business goals and user satisfaction. As a Product Design intern at EchoKids, I assumed leadership responsibilities, bridging theory and practice from academia.

Today, as a freelance UX designer, I'm on a mission to make technology universally accessible. Every project is an opportunity to simplify complexity, ensuring everyone can enjoy the digital world. My journey centers on turning challenges into opportunities and making tech enjoyable for all.
